Fantasy fiction novel writing has been one of the most healing & rewarding things I’ve ever pursued. I wanted to share some musings I have regarding.

How is this possible?

Because what you love gets through to you. What you believe in & value, first & foremost. It’s why sometimes it can be hard to take our own advice but when we hear it from our best friend or someone we admire, or a mentor, it gets through & we’re more likely to be able to enact that advice ✨

And… fiction novel writing is storytelling. At the end of the day- it’s storytelling, in some form or another, that is healing. Storytelling spans mediums. Your favorite restaurant has a chef behind it that is storytelling with food. Your favorite music artist is storytelling. Dancers storytell with their bodies. Actors.

When you go get coffee with a friend or sit around a table with people you love and you take turns expressing yourself & then listening or receiving, & then expressing or not saying anything, leaving something unsaid- that’s storytelling.

So fiction writing is a channel & medium I love that allows me to practice storytelling. It allows me a safe, structured space to explore the stories that make me, me.

Healing is really about witnessing stories. There’s grief in there. There’s art in there.
